Stop and Smell the Essential Oils
Take a moment to stop and smell the roses, lavender, or sandalwood—whatever scent brings you a sense of calm! Pausing to smell certain essential oils (EO's) when stressed or worried is an excellent way to catch your breath and regain focus. So many different essential oil scents used in aromatherapy are excellent mood lifters. It’s easy to get caught up in what to use.
Here are some of my favorites:
- **Lavender**: Great for relaxation, unwinding, and combating nervous tension.
- **Sandalwood**: Exceptional for calming the mind, taking a deep breath, and centering yourself.
- **Rose Absolute**: My top choice for managing feelings of overwhelm, anxiety, and nerves.
I enjoy blending these oils and adding the mixture to jojoba oil. I then apply this blend to my temples and wrists, reminding myself not to stick my entire nose in it because it smells so incredible. This combination forms the base of my Sleepy Head Blend, which I created to help with my own anxiety. When I shared it with others, they loved it, and as a result, two products were born. Along with my other tools for managing anxiety, they help me find a place of calm.
Is it a cure? No, I never claim that anything I create is a cure. However, these blends are soothing and can be helpful during times of stress. They can also be a benefit to folks who want to develop a nighttime routine for better sleep. Scent can be a powerful trigger; my biggest piece of advice is to use a scent you love. If you dislike lavender, for instance, it won't help you de-stress!
Always use essential oils with great care and respect, as they are highly concentrated. I never recommend ingesting them and being cautious around pets and children is crucial.
I'm very selective about my ingredients and only share companies I have used and vetted for years. Again, with so many companies out there, it’s hard to discern the best. Below I've added links to reading materials and the companies I use to purchase my ingredients from.
Enjoy your wellness journey, and be safe!
